A story picnic during Tasmania Reads week. Dressed as their favourite book characters, little adventurers enjoyed a picnic filled with magic, laughter, bubbles, and stories where author Lucy Christopher shared her latest picture book. Fullers Bookshop donated a gift voucher prize for the best dressed – which went to someone dressed as Paddington Bear, complete with marmalade sandwich under hat!

Writing the Wild with Lucy Christopher
23 March 2025

Award-winning author Lucy Christopher led a creative writing workshop focusing on the ways in which writing the wild and using setting can be important and inspiring for fiction. In a fun and interactive session of writing exercises and exploration, Lucy guided participants through the methods she uses to research and develop her novels. Through walking, writing and exploring the natural places around Art Farm, Lucy urged participants to find their own wild places and use them as starting points for fiction.

Emma Pinsent Open Studio
14 December 2024

Over three weeks, our artist-in-residence Emma Pinsent selected three different sites within the wet sclerophyll forest on the Art Farm Birchs Bay property to learn about and respond to four different eucalyptus trees. This open studio invited people to come and meet Emma to learn more about her practice and see what worked on at the Art Farm.
